Advice on 2007 Mazda 6 147bhp

I currently own a 2005 ford focus zetec and have been having major problems with engine. It's already had over £1000 worth of repairs done in 2 months. I thinking of chopping it in with a more reliable car. I found an 07 Mazda 6 147 with on 9100 miles on the clock and for only £7000, test driven it and really liked it.

Should I get it or should I stay away from it? All advice very welcome

I had a diesel one when they first came out.
It was alright really, bit noisy with a crappy Alba-look stereo but exterior looked good and was a nice steer. Lunched the turbo at 43k miles though.

Isn't the Duratec (Ford) and MZR (Mazda) engine range basically the same engine underneath?

Not sure, mine was the lower powered of the 2 diesels at launch, think it was maybe 128bhp?

Proper old-school td unit - loud and harsh, plenty of turbo-lag, then a big dollop of shove and a plume of black soot out the back
