Hi Guys: I want to attend the French round of the WRC on Oct 1-3. I will be in England the week before that on biz. Only one problem, the damn French haven't put up their maps yet of were the Ralley will be held. I gather it will be in the area of Strausberg? Do any of you know more specific details. I need to make travel arrangments now. Thanks for any help Lee

Hi Lee,

I’m also toying with the idea of going as well as it’s only a couple hour drive from where I live. I’ve never been to a Rally so I’m curious.

The web site is as follows

The stages are as follows

Best to fly into Basel Mulhouse as there are lots of flights. If you’re in London I recommend flying from London City (LCY). I know Swiss do direct flights.

I was planning to stay in Turckheim as it’s about ½ between Strasbourg and Molhouse in a medieval village with great wine and food.

Send me an e-mail if you want a recommendation for a hotel.

that is a neat idea, my wife is bugging me for a while to go to Alsace for a weekend, why not this one.
Usually we are shopping around for food and wine so the CanAm would not be the first choice.
If the wheather is sun for all days then might be as well coming in the orange beast otherwise in a car that can hold some cargo.
I am quite familiar with the Alsace and could arrange a chambre d'hotes for whoever wants to come.
Speak french as english.

Thanks for the info, greatly apprecaited. For those considering a visit to the WRC. DO IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I have been to 3 WRC events, twice to Corsica 85,86 and the one time they came to the U.S. Olympia 86. The trick is the pre-plan, you need the maps to plan your day. with proper planing you can usualy see 3 to 4 stages in a day. No its not as convienant as going to a track but when you see one of these things go by in full anger its a sight you will not forget. I was going to take the fast train from London to Strasburg then rent a car. I haven't opened the web sites you folks sent out so that may change just wanted to say thanks. Lee

+1 and on top of the sight, the sound and the smell of hot machinery, not forgetting you can be a couple of feet from the cars passing by (keep safe thought....). I saw the Monte Carlo some years ago and that was something at night...., the sound of the cars several kms away, the head and spot lights flashing through the forest, red glowing discs, sausages grilling on wood fires, the crowred going beserk at each passing car, a sight never to be seen again as special stages today are held during the daylight.

so I would be in, my wife loves the idea, anybody else ?
We could rent a gite if more people are joining in and we could actually give
a lift for 2 or even 5 if we take our Vito in addition from stuttgart airport to the Alscace.

Spatz and others: I am commited to going to the rally. Unfourtunatley it looks like I will have to be in London on Friday late morning so I will travel over to Strausberg on the fast train Friday afternoon. I would really like to meet up with you while I am there. Sharing a ride is not a bad idea either maybe on Saturday, that would give your wife the option of attending the rally or taking your car and shopping I will have a rental car. Any thoughts Lee
