I have a policy with Admiral for my MX5 and have 7 or 8 years protected/guaranteed NCB.

I'm currently looking for a second vehicle as a runabout and need to insure it on a separate policy (Admiral MultiCar are more expensive than two separate policies).

I've so far been getting quotes online, and have assumed no NCB as this is a new policy and I'm using my NCB elsewhere. However, I've heard that some companies will match my NCB or at least offer an introductory discount.

So, if you've recently experienced an Insurance company that'll do this I'd be grateful to hear who they are - I don't want to spend hours and hours on the phone trying to find out (The policy without any NCB is only £250 anyway...) so will target companies known to take kindly to second vehicles.

Answers on a postcard.... smile

classic policies do this, but there are certain rules about which cars and annual driving patterns are acceptable.

Funny, I found quotes using Admiral Multicar were cheaper than 2 seperate policies. In my case anyway.

I currently have a mirrored no claims scheme going with my broker, Sky Insurance. http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/ I would recommend their customer service also.

I had the same problem when buying a second 'runner' for work etc.
Privilege allowed me to insure both cars (BMW & GTR) using my 19 years NCB on the understanding that I couldn't protect them. No biggy there.

I currently have an S4 insured with Aviva (the most competitive price I could find) but they wouldn't honour the NCB on the newly acquired M3. A call to Zurich fettled this and they again allowed me the use of my NCB.

The only stipulations were that all drivers had to be over 25 and NCB had to be unprotected.

Hope this helps

I've got my NCB on one of me cars. The other two are done with mirrored NCB. One is insured with A-Plan and the other is with Peter Best.

Which you've just reminded me needs renewing.

Bell (Admiral sister company) do NCB matching for another policy, certainly did a couple of years ago anyway.

I phoned round and some companies, once you explain the situation, give you "introductory" NCD.

Basically I have 10 years NCD on my normal policy so they "gave" me 3 years on my 2nd car (which will be 4 years once it expires etc.). This is a different company to my other car BTW.

I found Adrian Flux good for finding a "mirror" policy.

Edit to say - you will need to call brokers for these - I've never seen mirror policies quotable online....

The car in question is likely to be a cheapo Pug 106 1.0/1.1/1.5D so i'm not sure if A-Plan/Adrian Flux would be interested? Will try them though.

Thanks for all the suggestions, the car is to be run as cheap as possible so if I can shave a few quid off the insurance I'll be a happy bunny!

Elephant allowed me to mirror & Competition Car Insurance allowed me full NCD based on the fact I had full NCD on another car.

Aviva did this for me with no problem, I just called them and asked. Have a Legacy on max NCD and put a Clio 200 on as well with matched NCD.
