Service Price of Mini Cooper S JCW - Shop Around

Have just taken the mini to a Main Dealer for an Inspection II and coolant, brake fluid change.

Now the prices are as follows (all incl VAT)

Dealer it is with

Service £289
Coolant £ 48
Brake Fluid £ 45

A total of £382

Another dealer in the opposite direction about the same mileage

Service £249*
Coolant £ 98
Brake Fluid £ 88

A total of £435

• This service did not include a couple of items from the more expensive one (belts)

Now these two are different franchises so don't assume everywhere is the same price. Also the more expensive coolant/brake fluid dealer was asking questions like 'Did they include the coolant itself in the quote?' so not filling me with confidence.

Also they diagnosed my PDC being the right rear sensor and I can get a replacement incl. colour coding for £119.85. A little pricey I guess but at least I know that it will work and you can get to the outer ones by removing the arch liner so no great shakes to replace either.

I will wait till I pick it up tomorrow to see if they stick to their quoted prices and report back.

It was as quoted and they didn't charge for the pdc diag. So shop around for fluid changes. I could have saved another £40 but I just wanted it done in a single visit.

Just won a brand new PDC on eBay for £2.89. Just need to spray it blue and job done. The mini R53 uses the same PDC sensors as the 5 series and z4 so it is best to check eBay for BMW PDC Sensors rather than mini sensors. Always check the part number is the right one though as the cars I mentioned have also used different sensors for different years.

As for the service the difference in the car is very noticeable so worth the money.
