The pipe looks to me like a breather that goes into one of the rocker covers,i think from the plenum, if I remember correctly from my Capri 2.8i days.

It goes from the driver's side(UK) of the plenum to the rocker. An oil breather, the pipe is quite hard as any other pipe collapses under the suction when the throttle is closed. Just visible in the middle of the three bits sticking out of the plenum

I reckon the ballofix is on the heater pipework!

Perhaps he has the only one that works and needs to turn it off in the summer!!!!!!

Thanks MJG280.. I can just about see it.. Could be replaced with a different breather if thats all it is..(a cleanable one).. I think it obviously has a new one but you know what its like if youve ever found bits in the boot that someone else has left there.. I always remove any traces of..But in this case it has actually helped to identify potential probs..Im taking the AAD mounting plate to an engineer tomorrow as if i try to do it i will damage the part... Also found the original throttle body..will be cleaning it thoroughly and putting it back on although im struggling to find a gasket..Its always nice to have a spare one of them..and gasket..Cheers.Zigga

It's not just a breather, it is part of crankcase emmissions crap, I think that's the one that is restricted, neg crankcase pressure and all thatsmile There is one the other side too. It's operates like a directional loop.

Buy some gasket paper make your own, it's really, good to have a couple of sheets on the shelf.

Heres the broken thread..
Use one of these

A regular vice will be ok to hold it just don't zap it up too tight or use a couple of peices of wood between it and the jaws.
Might be easier to take it to any mechanic, he will have that out in a few seconds.
Ask "do you have an easy out to fit this?" and thrust the offending thing towards himsmile
Also know as extractors.
Plumbers have these too...if that's any help.

Cheers jeff.. I have taken it to engineers now..Was looking at those types of bits.. they are left handed and thats what i needed... oh well.. will get some for future..Gasket paper could be the solution.. Ive been trying to find a similar if not the same throttle body.. even with the numbers stamped on it its hard to find.
Will av a look at granada sites..The power steering pipe should be here tom.. hopefully i can put everything back together and it will run at last..I think the pipe in boot was like rest.. old ones.. Thanks.. M

the ballofix is on the heater pipework

Yes my heater works wonderfully well as it has had a new matrix, loads of mastic to seal up the air leaks, thrown away one of the fans and I have a new control that doesn't quite turn off. And the plastic pipe was handy and free. I may paint it black in the future.

You can get anything to work on these cars given time and some blue tack
