floppy knob

not that one...got back from the bng...washed car...went to put it away and the gearstick went all floppy and feels like it is no longer connected to the linkages? Clutch is fine.

Assume i need to check the linkages, etc...are these accessd from the top through the gaitor hole? ...or is there more to it?

Try adjusting the upside down overhang. Hope this helps.

You'll have to remove the T-bone console and the inspection hatch underneath it. The hatch is held on with screws and some bloody sticky goo!

Thanks for that...got to this stage last night...console off, panel off and started to look at what was wrong.

The shaft on the bottom of the gear stick had come out of the rotating ball joint - I popped it back in and thought all was well until I went for the gears at the back (2nd & 4th) and it popped out again. Going to do a bit more checking.

Thoughts are the plastic cup and holder might be worn but visually they look OK..?

Anyone got a pic or a drg of the selector arrangment so I can check mine is as it should be?

Plus...is there anything in the actual selector area...the bit at the rear of the box that can be adjusted or greased or something? It currently has a rubber boot over it and don't want to remove it for if there is nothing to look at!

That link helped....got it all sorted on Saturday. Its hard to describe, mines a T5 box, but it was the mechanism at the rear where the rear shaft drops into the box...it had 'sprung open' and allowed the horizontal link to lift and ity all popped out of alignment.
