Crazy convertion, any price estimate?

Hey guys,

Those of you who went to the 2010 Festival of Speed would've seen the Ford "XJ220" Transit.

For those who are less farmiliar; It is a Ford transit van. It looks completely standard apart from XJ220 wheels. Under the bonet you'll find a TWR XJ220 engine.
Rumour has it that it was a test car for TWR when the XJ220 race car was being produced.

I have found an 1100 bhp TWR XJ220 engine for sale at £19995. How much would It cost to slot it into a transit and actually road legalise it? (this includes buying a transit van and the engine)

I think you'll find the engine is in the back, not under the bonnet.

Sounds fantastic. The price will depend on what model of transit you want, how much you want to do to it and what the van will be eventually used for.

Stick the engine in the back of a P100 so we can see it at least. Then put a "Truckman" top on when you're on a stealth Bugati baiting mission.

The "Goodwood" transit has the XJ220 chassis with a transit shell. i love the idea of putting a race engine in a transit though!! There are some Cosworth DFV's for sale at the moment too - could be rather fun...

As far as I know, the one in existance uses an XJ220 running gear. Not sure about the gearbox.

I really want to make it happen. I am worried that 1100bhp may be a bit too much for a van, would it be un-tamable?

Adapter plate and any gearbox you want. Would sit prety under an TWR XJS bonnet on a Nascar box and nine inch axle.

I would like it to look as standard as I can, that way it'll me a huge shock for chavs when I blow their saxo into the weeds.

I'd say anything from a 1990s to early 2000s Transit; a cheap one.

The engine isn't actually 1100bhp though is it, it's only ~750bhp. Would probably be a LOT cheaper to stick one of the LSx blocks with turbos and a known gearbox / diff for in for that amount of cash!

NASCAR gearbox sounds expensive, any for sale? Possible to get hold of one?

I don't want it under the bonnet, It'd be better in the back. That way the exterior would remain pretty much standard.

If you made it a rear biased 4x4 i think it would be ok. Shotgunning my position in the driving seat to finalise the set up!!
