It's a posting rule and it's a good idea, the place would be flooded otherwise.

There was an idea for a monthly charity sticky, mind you, which I think is a better compromise.

Unless you approach garlick first any threads for charity will be deleted, it's always been that way.
Otherwise the place would be over-run with them. Usually if you approach Garlick he's more than accommodating if it's a worthy cause.

maybe make a section only for charities, then those that want can post there and those that have too much money can sponsor them ?

That would very quickly turn into a begging forum. On the other hand though I have really enjoyed the threads about toy runs and the one where lots of people from PH met up for that lad who had cancer and just wanted to be driven in a fast sports car...then ends up being driven in loads on the same day!

Seeing Garlic first seems like a very good compromise.
