G/F was discussing our impending planning app with a work colleague today. Colleague said that she'd been told that once planning consent is given, there is still a right to appeal for those opposed.

I'd not heard of that, and have found nothing so far with the aid of Google.

Is the colleague mistaken, or does the lack of findings via Google illustrate nonsense?

Depends where you are. If you're in the UK there is no right of appeal for objectors when planning approval is granted. The process (not the decision) under which the planning application was handled is potentially open to challenge through the courts but that is a complicated process and very rarely applicable to household planning applications.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, it's the UK. That tallies with what I thought.

Maybe not "appeal" - but the colleague may have been thinking of things like Right to Light which can, in certain circumstances, be used by neighbours to obstruct/amend/obtain compensation for development that has planning approval.
