Fine Dining near to covent garden

A friend son is coming over from the US and is staying around Covent garden. Any recommendations for fine dining around Covent Garden area?

Another recomendation for Rules. I ate there a couple of years ago for my dads birthday. The food is lovely.

Its also London's oldest restaurant.

I'll throw Clos Maggiore into the hat (cos someone else soon will).

Good food, although has a romantic feel to it so you might look like a pair of bummers...

My last mean at Chez Gerards (Bow Lane/Watling Street) has meant I'm unlikely to ever want to go back to one of their restaurants in the future.

As already mentioned though Clos Maggiore is fantastic. Try and get a table in the conservatory if you can.

Without being complicated, does it have to be 'in' COvent Garden?

If he is American, how about Christophers? Drinks in One Aldwych and then walk around the corner?

Not really fine dining but Circus in Covent Garden is good for something different in the evenings?

Try get on the long main table or table number 6 (or was it 4?)

Rules is very nice, hired the private dining for a corporate event and the food and wine was excellent.

Is there a Hix in Covent Garden? Would highly reccommend that.
