Don't know if anyone else has seen these in the classifieds but I can't see anyone in a wedge fitting these without scrapping the tyres.

I just don't get these numpties who think that seriously under-tyreing a car is just so cool. That width of tyre shouldn't be fitted to anything more than a 6.5" wheel, not a 7.5" wheel. I doubt his insurance company would cover a vehicle with that sort of modification. If he's told them.

And as for Wedge fitment, certainly not the 400 / 450 series - too narrow and the wrong offset. Not sure about the 350's though.

They would be off the 350i. I used to have them on one of my old 350's

Certainly not worth that sort of money though.... A set of 16" Tuscan wheels maybe...

I too wondered about insurance implications, have seen some of these around, seem the trend at the moment.

Handling can't be right either surely? The tyre walls are not meant to bend that way.

Whilst the owner is at fault, what about the people who fitted the tyres.... surely there must be a duty of care issue, if not to the driver but the public ... probably not, but there should be

Quite agree. Given recent threads about insurance firms avoiding payouts for non-notification of mods the wrong rim size forced onto a wheel is going to be something they would highlight as a factor and try to walk away from the issue. Also the integrity of the sidewall has surely been undermined and any "harsh" cornering could lead to the tyre rolling off the rim all together.

On a more sensible note the tyre place I used to supply my Falken's made a clear point of asking about my wheel sizes to ensure they were within the manufacturers guidelines

It is the VAG scene thing at the moment apparently, quite a few VAG cars around my area with tyres that don’t fit the wheels, must be a blow out at 70 mph waiting to happen.

You do have to kind of wonder why he's flogging them after just a few weeks. He's probably realised they're are not such a great idea too.

I really can't see the attraction of tyre stretching. I saw one a while ago, that was probably a 7" rim, with a 165 tyre on it, god knows how it managed to stay on, and I don't even believe that it could ever be driven on.
