7.5t lorry and tacho - whats the rules etc

Hi folks,
I am looking for a new job (after 22 years in the civil service) and all I can see in my area at the moment is lorry driving, up to 7.5T. Now I have the licence (1982)and have driven a couple of times. But I have no idea about tacho's (other than the Mexican ones you eat)or the rules on their use. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I've been out of transport for a few years now, so aren't fully aware of the smaller details.

You'll probably need a Driver's Card (for digital tacho's), if you're going to be in anything fairly modern.

It looks just like your photocard driving licence, except it's greyish white. My former employer sorted it for me, so off hand I don't know. Hang on and I'll have a look though:

Ok, well good luck. Hope you enjoy it. If you do, you'll probably end up getting the Cat C (and maybe Cat C + E) licence, then you can drive the big stuff!

just been looking the 'licences' up, it now seems that you have to have some extra 35 hours traning to go with this. All good fun if I can get the job.

You'll have 'grandfather rights' for the cpc training as you passed before '97. You'll have to have done 35 hours by Sep 2014 to carry on using your license vocationally.
