Hello Chaps, I have just acquired an BMW 740i Sport on a 2001 plate. Problem is that it lets in a lot of wind noise. I have done a bit of searching around but I am still unclear on the parts I may need.

Can someone please advise me on what seals are needed to rectify the problem and where I can source these seals. The outer seal on my car has perished quite badly as the rubber is just crumbling away.

Many thanks.

Just had the same on the back on my '97 M3: the cure was parts from here www.bmminiparts.com , & then a windscreen guy to pull out the screen & refit the rubber & glass. My guess is yours would also be a bonded screen, so chances are it'll need the same. If you need a new screen due to chip damage, you may find it worthwhile to see if your insurance will cover it...

thanks for that, I was hoping that it would not be a windscreen out job though... I have read contrasting information on the internet hence my concern.

There are a a couple of obvious reasons why you may be getting wind noise on your E38; the first is a bonding issue, ie, if the glass is not 'sealed' by the polyurethane adhesive (they rarely come unstuck, but if the windscreen has been replaced for example, the chances are it's down to that) or, wind is getting under the left and right trims (there's a fairly simple cure for this).

What's the cure? I have experienced wind noise in my 1999 740i since having the windscreen replaced a year or so ago.
