Performance HT leads, worth it?

Evening all, I'm in need of some new HT leads for my mk2 golf gti, are the perfomance ones worth the extra money or will a standard set of aftermarket leads do the same job for half the cash?

As long as sufficient spark is getting to the plugs, and they are durable enough, then no they don't actually do anything.

I never ever noticed a difference though potentially they may be less prone to long term breakdown. Can't say I've ever had a problem attributable to HT leads save burning them on the exhaust manifold in which case heatproof ones might have an advantage but not if routed correctly. They are generally only a problem when the outer part cracks allowing the spark to arc to earth.
