Deposit put down on Tamora!!!

I have put down a deposit today on the blue tamora red rose at Tony Gilbert cars, Picking it up in 2 weeks when I get back from Spain. the waits going to be agonising. The car is like new condition and the sound is amazing. Any tips for new TVR ownership? Also what power should the 4.0l red rose engine produce as I cannot find any details on this only the standard 3,6 engine that produces 350bhp I would imagine mine with the red rose will be quicker? Its just had a new leather retrim which looks fantastic will get pics up when I get the car! EXCITED!

The Red Rose engine in your Tam (assuming it's standard from the factory) is a 3.6 and not the 4.0 engine put in the Red Rose Tuscan's. Power was quoted at 375bhp but as with pretty much all TVR's quoted power and real power are often different although not as much with the SP6 engine compared to the RV8 and AJP8 engines.

The 4.0L has definately more torque than the 3.6L and this is very noticeable. I haven't noticed any significant improvement in acceleration from a standing start up to 60mph though, but accelerating from 50mph+ there is a definate improvement in performance. I'm getting about 420bhp'ish from my 4.0L and that is with the ACT Air Box also fitted.

The red rose was put in at the factory in 2004 at 7000 miles. I went to see the silver t350 and had a look at this and fell in love. They look so much better in the flesh at the back than in photos! oh and the noise it made my jaw hurt the grin it gave me

I know the car very well as it belonged to one of my mates.

Its had a fortune spent on it and behaved very well on the way to and from Le Mans earlier this year.

I test drove it on Saturday and must admit it sounded great with the sports exhaust. I believe it is a still a 3.6 but rebuilt to factory Red Rose spec in 2003.

I decided to give it a miss and carry on looking, but I'm sure you will enjoy it

thanks for that really helpful. should be quick then. I didnt drive it hard at all on the test drive as hadnt driven a tvr before. i loved the torque it had. The noise was what sold it to me and the condition inside and out! did it feel quick to you when you drove it saturday? I havent drove others so not sure.
