Family motor, safe, cheap and reliable - £10k

Work colleague of mine is due to have her first baby in February and is looking to replace her Mini with something a bit more family practical.
She has had a go in my Civic and quite likes it, but also has her heart set on a RAV4 for some reason!
Any other suggestions? I was thinking Nissan Quashqi or something similarly soul-less?

has she driven a large 4x4 before? I have known of a few women try out much bigger cars only to find them too big to manoever.
most important thing is that the buggy/pram can fit in the boot. If she has one that doesn't fold down much then you will need somethng pretty big. You have to think that you need room for the pram, a few odds and ends and then the shopping as well. This is probably the reason so many new parents end up buying a 4x4.
Personally i'd advise to save a bit on the money and get a Honda CRV or something similar. If this is too big and she needs something more car like, then a bmw 3 series touring, or audi/volvo equivalent
