Lucas Cap and rotor arm

Can anyone advise where to buy these from without paying £25 for the cap and £15 for the arm as people who stock them under the TVR number want to charge us?.. I want Lucas ones obviously...
And delivery of £10 on top is out of order... I tried my local Landy shop but they only have 'Other' makes... so didn't bother...

Yes.. thanks for that... I'll give them a call....
There does appear to be a old Lucas / New Lucas issue... Cap's I don't think you'll get an old one or so I'm told.... but it's the arm where you need the old Lucas type where Lucas is detailed in the moulding?.... Th ethings you learn... So makes it even more complex as you don't want to be paying a premium for the 'New' items!

The cap seems to matter less. I have had a blue one (dunno what make) to match the hoses and leads for a couple of years with no problem. But you do have to get a Lucas arm, even if you have to pay the post man. I promise you it will be cheaper in the short run!

I seem to recall a thread on this a while back, and someone found a stash. RaceTech are advertising OE Lucas - £28.95++.

Mmmm.. will try a cap first then.. my rotor arm does look in good condition.. but the cap is eroded away about 0.5mm or so where the arm passes the round metal pickup's... Sure this won't be helping things....

I tried 2 or 3 supposedly OE Lucas items (around £7 or £8 each I think) and they were ste. Car ran like a dog and thought I'd just got a duff one. Bloke at the Lucas shop said they were rubbish now and made in the far east to a much reduced spec. Swapped with an embossed Lucas one (yes, they are damn expensive) and ran like a dream. TBH £8 is a waste of money and I know best part of £30 is a lot it may be your only cure. Old agage - you get what you pay for.
Can you borrow one locally to test it?

Cheers guy's .. got some this aft from 'John Wearing rover parts'

He's got the old Lucas arms at £21... and better than the old Lucas Cap's at £10....
and he's a user of them (for 40 years) and not just a seller... so should know his game!...
He said the arms are the key thing.. The one in the link Simon put up is a new Lucas unit made in the far east... He didn't rate them....
So.. if you want an old Lucas arm, give hime a call whilst he still has stock...

You'll have to excuse my lack of technical knowledge here, but, what effect does a lower quality rotor arm have ?
Loss of power (bhp or torque) ?
Or just poor running / lumpy running of the engine ie hesitation/ missing on acceleration ?

Yes. All of the above due to a poor ditribution of spark. HT likes simple clean paths to cross.

Also one of the reason for more and more people getting rid of the dizzy..

Mine was huge loss of power and torque - wouldn't start (and all I was going to do was to drive across for the annual maintenance and check up. RAC came out, eventually trailered it away. It took a while to find the rotor was the culprit. The bill was a lot bigger than it would have been without. Lesson of the day - use Lucas original.
