Finally ditched the runflats...

So being fed up with rock hard ride in my MINI Cooper S, and not fancying a £600 tyre bill (would be my third set of fronts and first replacement of rears), I decided to go for a non run-flat. Loads of other MINI owners have recommended going onto Falken 452's. Most on the forums finding them better than Pirelli P Zero Neros and almost as good as Conti Sport Contact 3's Black Circles was about the best price I could find and got them fitted for £330.
Had them fitted this morning. The oaf in the garage tried to say "but you've got run-flat rims". I explained there was no such thing, and with a bit of huffing and puffing, he fitted them, and also conceded that my rims were exactly the same as any others.
So I've done about 20 miles on the now, and although I haven't done any hooning so can't comment too much about levels of grip - they felt pretty good on a roundabout, the difference in quality of ride is unbelievable. My spine and suspension will take a lot less punishment from now on! No juddering and bouncing over manhole covers at all. I don't grimace when approaching a speed hump. No tramlining on street markings.

I replaced the run flats on my Z4 with Falken 452's and like you say, the difference was amazing. Lack of tram lining was the main difference; made it much more relaxing when just cruising on poor roads.
My current 335i has RTFs and they are much, much better than the Z4. Either they suit the car better, or the technology has moved on somewhat. The RFTs are Bridgestone Potenza.
