Aviation Engineer - how to start the career...
Discussion
Hi - i am really interested in becoming an engineering on aircraft/helicopters. Not fussed if it is mechanical or electrical but a side from the obvious college courses does anybody have any good advice?
I am 22 and have been working for the last 4 years in unrelated jobs in the motor industry (service advisor roles) however I am quite practical and have a good head for engineering I hope! There are electrical/mechanical NVQs I can do at college but not sure how valuble these would be after completing and trying to find a job in the industry, had a look at a couple of appreticeships but with the limited amount of spaces I don't think i'm desireable enough for the companies as I have no experience/basic qualifications. I can't do the uni route without going back practically to school, as you need an A in Physics and Maths A level and I can't take the A levels as I didn't get an A in Science and Maths at school.
My last resort will be to join the forces as an engineer but would prefer to go the civvy route.
Any advice would be appreciated...
