Balance transfered CC to somebody else by accident

Hello all,

I'm asking this question for a friend who is very concerned regarding the matter. I couldn't help her with any info and have searched the web to no avail, hopefully someone from here can help.

Basically she did a balance transfer about a month ago. She has noticed that the money had left the card (which she was BTing from) but the balance was still remaining in full on the other card. When she queried it further she has been told that the payment was sent to another card which had two letters different. The rest of the numbers were exactly the same as her card.

She doesn't know for sure if she gave the wrong details or if the person on the phone misunderstood her. She has been told that they will try to find the recording for the phone call to determine what happened.

Now she is worried sick. Does anybody know what will happen and how long it will take to get sorted? Does anybody know the standard procedure for these sort of things? I assume it must happen a few times?
