Travelling along the A419 today my rear tyre decided to shread itself which meant I had to be towed to the nearest BMW franchise courtesy of BMW assist.

£700 later for 2 runflat bridgestones I was feeling suitably robbed!

Surely these shouldn't be so expensive but they had me over a barrel as I obviously needed the tyres and couldn't go anywhere without them.

How much would these 265 30 19s normally cost?

From what I remember, the dealers aren't much more expensive than the normal tyre places. Within £20 per tyre IIRC.

Out of interest, what was the wear like on yours. Completely worn down on the inner edge ?

Yes, that's it - completely worn on both inner edges. I presume this is how they wear, had the same wear pattern on my Boxster?

The low pressure warning came on, but within seconds it had started to shread... hence couldn't get home or to a tyre shop. And proceeded to get raped by BMW - a quick online search has given a quote of £550 fully fitted for 2 tyres (and that's Kwik Fit!)

I'm sure my local dealer where some £40 - 50 more expensive per tyre than the tyre shop down the road and that was on 245/35/18
