Steering Knocking Sound

Can anyone help -

I have an annoying knocking sound coming from my steering rack if I turn my wheel to the left.

It's a one-off knock which doesn't appear to be coming from the rod ends and it aint coming from the UJs as they are all good.

There is no playin the steering

I understand that there is an adjusment that can be made to the rack to help this or have I got it all wrong..

The adjustment usually helps free up a stiff rack.

I haven't heard of it curing a knocking sound.

You just remove the cap in front of the point where the column enters the rack and carefully remove the bits in there and re-grease everything.

It's a pretty easy job.

I'd actually posted up pics of how to do this job back in April '07 but the pics are no longer on Tinypic so I can't show you what to do at the moment.

I might have the pics on an old hard drive somewhere and if I can find them I'll post them (no promises though).
