Cars That Smell Of Dog

2 incidences in the last week involving dog cars.
First off a friend picked me up in his scenic with his 2 year old in the back, he bought it over 2 years ago and it still stinks of dog from the previous owner, I'm sure he doesn't recognise the smell anymore, nor does his 2 year old it would seem
Worse still is a private hire that I got into on the way out for a night out that smelt like a kennel, absolutely f
king disgusting, TBF I should have refused to get in it but I didn't 
Seriously how the Hell does somebody think it's OK to pick people up in a TAXI smelling of a wet dog?
Does the smell ever go?

I had an old Sierra for a while that smelt of dog.
It was actually a leak into the boot that was dampening the boot-lining and that was going off.
My girlfriend reversed it into a post and we had to get it fixed: replaced the carpet and the whole thing was fine again...
That was a terrible car. A 1.8 that had all the power of the 1.6 and all fhe fuel economy of the 2.0...

Cigerette smoke I agree! My mum is one of these people that apparently HAVE to smoke no matter what. I had my first car and gave her strict instructions not to smoke in it as I wanted it smoke free...pretty much the only bit of fresh air I got with all her smoking!
So she goes and smokes in it anyway! She had decided that I wouldnt smell it as she had the window open but that was it then, I never got the smell out of the thing. f

a sterile vehicle it is not i'm sure kim and aggie would probably have a positve orgy in it (of finding germs of course nothing crude here Dog is nothing in terms of annoyance compared to driving around in a car that's had the heater matrix let go.
While at a superficial level the smell isn't as offensive to the nose, ethylene glycol seems to have a habit of hiding away in places that, no matter how much you air out the interior, dry-vac the carpets or mop up behind the centre console, six months later you'll be driving along and get this incredibly strong antifreeze whiff.
At least with the plain old smell of labrador hair and slobber you don't end up bent over double in the passenger footwell patting the carpets for signs of moisture!
On the other end of the spectrum, what about the smell of a car that's had horse tack in it?
While at a superficial level the smell isn't as offensive to the nose, ethylene glycol seems to have a habit of hiding away in places that, no matter how much you air out the interior, dry-vac the carpets or mop up behind the centre console, six months later you'll be driving along and get this incredibly strong antifreeze whiff.
At least with the plain old smell of labrador hair and slobber you don't end up bent over double in the passenger footwell patting the carpets for signs of moisture!

My gran bought a Toyota Corolla from new and drove it for 5 years, solely to go to the shops and take her dogs (Alsations and labs) for walks a couple of times a day. 10 Years after giving the car to my mum, who initially had it professionally cleaned and has had many more attempts to completely clean it, the smell is still there and inexplicably, the dogs hairs still turn up. :/
