Hi, looking at a 2004 (54)5 series touring with Sat Nav. The RAC inspection says "Data Disc Missing" What exactly is it and do I need it?. If so, what's it goning to cost me.
Tool kit and warning triangle missing as well. It would be nice to replace but don't fancy BMW prices, anybody got suggestions on cost effective supplies.

Thanks
Mark

depending on number of owners might be indication of careless less than fussy owner.

you'll need a nav disk - 100 odd notes from dealer, to 20 ish quid on ebay for copied one to get the system working - to be honest unless I had the disk to try and see if nav computer was working i'd be thinking... maybe a way of diverting you away from seeing car has a busted nav.

Walk, tons of 5ers around.

You can always borrow one from a friend to test - or get it included as part of the sale?

Car's had 1 owner and is low miles.
I will try and contact owner to see if they have it!. The syatem is the Pro so is the system shot without it or is this just sort of reboot disc. Sorry not familar with a lot of sat nav systems. Only in built one I had was a VAG in a 2005 Tourag and didn't have a disc.

The disc holds the map data so the system simply won't work without it. If you're familiar with applications like bittorrent there are bootleg copies available for free download. The link posted above is for a chap that sells bootleg copies enhanced with speed cameras and other additional POIs.

Advance warning... from a complete technophobe... so on a 2008 BMW 3-series with Prof Nav I could get an updated set of maps with speed cameras from this chap through Option E? Would this give a 7 digit postcode option?

I'm reading Option D is for newer cars only?
