I've just been reading the thread about somebody getting nicked for using a jammer. I have just fitted an LRC10 with an Origin b2 which seemed like a pretty smart set up.

Would the advice be to take it off in light of recent events? Any contributions from bib's would be very welcome.

If you are worried about using it then try this approach: Keep it fitted to the car untill it saves you once. Then remove it if you feel it saving you may lead to you getting investigated for perverting the cause of justice. At least this way you have saved 3 points!

Perhaps we need some code of practice for these things, here are a few ideas:
1) Never tell anyone you know of their existence, never mind owning one. The less publicity the better.
2) Never go Plod baiting with one like the idiot in Wales, no matter how satisfying it may be. This just brings these things to a higher level of attention making it worse for everyone else.
3) Only turn on said device when necessary, ie the open road. Leave it turned off when you are "legal". OK this one is questionable as it is easy to stray over the limit and easy to forget to turn it on.
4) When activated by a trap, brake immediately to legal speed and turn off so that they can get a reading, this makes usage less apparent.
5) If caught in possesion plead not guilty. There is no specific law against. Are the CPS going to waste time and money?

This sounds like a great idea. It is only a matter of time till they legislate against them, the less publicity the longer it will take. I hear the importers of the LRC 100 are reporting increasing sales, no doubt due to the Safety Scumera Partnerships arrival in the last couple of years.

It would actually be rather difficult to legislate against this since light is a naturally occuring phenomena and those particular frequencies are used in commercially available products such as garage door openers. Hence the reliance on 'obstructing the police in their duties' or 'perverting the course of justice'.

The guy who was convicted for it was only convicetd because he pled (pleaded?) guilty. He wasn't even speeding! So (AFAIK) there is no "case law" as such to be established on the back of this case.

Caveat: I'm an engineer not a lawyer so take this as such!

What makes me laugh is when the authorities say things like, " The useage of jammers are illegal and extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated".

Question/s. Illegal in what way precisely?
Extremely dangerous? Surely you jest! Theyre the w*nkers deliberately pointing lasers at peoples faces. The only danger in using a jammer is to their cash generation scam.

Usage wont be tolerated....Oh i see. The scammers decide whats legal and what isnt nowadays....Think again.
Them using lasers to spray into peoples eyes wont be tolerated by us, hence the jammers. If they want to do something about them, then theyre free to try, but there will be a day of reckoning for this lot, you can be assured of it.
