Parent and Child parking spaces.....

Ok, I am not Soovy and I am therefore banned from posting links to the Daily Whail website, but hell this one is funny:

There has been a bit of a 'to-do' about Parent and Child parking spaces at supermarkets etc. Now, I have to say that I have children, go to supermarkets but I DONT use these extra wide spaces. Simple reason, you are more likely to get a damn dent in them anyway in my opinion. So I park in the empty 1/4 of the car park which happens to be just over 200 metres from the entrace. Oddly, I am able to walk 200 metres and hence it doesnt bother me in the slightest....

But I did find this article funny.

When you've got to try and get a child out of a car seat, or a car seat out of a car in a regular space.... well.....try it yourselves.

They're wide spaces and close to the front for a reason, and that's not for Mr. and Mrs. Range Rover to get prefential space over the proliteriat.

I think supermarkets should simply design their car parks so that the spaces get gradually bigger, the further from the entrance you get.

I personally don't care where the parent & child spaces are; i.e. its not the walk that's the problem. I also don't much use them. But when I've parked miles away in an empty part of a car park I often come back to find cars on either side, and there'd be absolutely no chance of getting the required-by-law child seat back in the car without first moving it.

A minor inconvenience on the few occasions its happened in the weeks since we've had the little one, but would be pretty difficult if I or my gf were on our own. Best solution is shop online, of course.

I got a 50 quid fine for doing that , in sainsburys . I am not paying it , it's not a law requirement like a disabled parking space .
What's wrong with parents thinking they have more right than anyone else ?

Really? I've never been fined, though I must confess, I only really use them when my girlfriend isn't in the car. Personally I think parents should have extra wide spaces and they should be right at the back of the car park.

I also question why the hell people feel the need to take the kids shopping. Surely it's twice as fast if you go shopping on your own while the kids stay at home with your other half? I know this isn't going to work for everyone but the amount of people who go as a group of 4 (mum, dad, 2 kids) seems mad. Just go on your own, in, out, job done.

They are a bonus when you can get them but invariably they are full anyway and they are so fking wide in Sainsbury's only a concerted effort could get your car dented so they do have a use but i prefer to park away from the dingles and let the little one walk the lenght of the car park nowt worse than lazy kids
