SORN renewal?

I'm currently out of the country and I've just received a txt from my OH saying that "you've received a letter from the DVLA to renew / SORN on your car".

As the tax was going to run out at the end of Sept anyway I decided to SORN the car a month early, will this simply be a case of the DVLA sending out a tax reminder anyway?

I must admit then when I've SORN'd in the past I never had a reminder after the initial confirmation.

Even after two weeks of it having been SORN'd?

Or does it go on the end of the 'car tax period', no matter how soon after the declaration happens?

just check the status on line when the tax runs out

Status at the moment is probably "Licenced or Licence not due"

When tax expires it will be "Unlicenced or Licence Due"

If sorned it will say "SORN not Due" and the date of liability will be 1 year from the date of the expiry of the tax or the SORN application

ah, it's been SORNed, and you've had another letter saying SORN it...

Get the GF to do it online, all you need to do is plug in the ref number on the sheet, click yes to everything, and it's done.

Save the email confirmation too
