Tyre Insurance advice

I'm considering purchasing tyre insurance after having three punctures this year and having to replace two tyres (nail in the side wall). I would need it for 19" wheels so the AA does not cover up to this size (they cover up to 18") and the other companies will not cover cars that are over 1 year old (my car is 4 years old). Any suggestions?

Yes I have and of the many companies I've tried they will not insure a car over a year old and with 19" wheels. So cover might not exist for my requirements

Why insure a loss that you can afford to cover?

As the above post says. If you can afford tyres then the insurance is not necessary. If not then why do you have a car with 19 inch rims?

I think you'll probably find that once you make a claim your premium would end up going up to more than the cost of just replacing the tyres.

Do you often drive on building sites or similar?

Lot of work going on around my area and in central London, just paid for another tyre even though it was almost brand new as the nail was in the sidewall. AA was £90 a year and up to £250 a tyre, looks like decent value.
I'm exploring the idea as a friend of mine bought it with his new car along with GAP insurance and after a couple of months has already had to use it.

Put the car onto 15" steelies and pay £30 a tyre instead, or less if you buy part-worns?

Now this I don't recommend. You've no idea of the history of the tyre. I did this when I was 17/18 and broke. 75mph on the M27 one day and it blew out sending me across all 3 lanes 3 times.

Why don't they insure cars over a year old? Shirley it makes no difference to the age of the car, as to the likelihood of getting a puncture.

Had no idea tyre insurance even existed. Will we have petrol insurance next, to make a claim in case you run out.

I wonder if 15's would even fit on the car, if I go broke I'll use
your idea and Ill be the first CLS to ride on 15's, would whack the air suspension up for extra poverty effect.

You would think that changing to a harder compound tyre may help ?
