Right, I've made a decision! Panasonic it is.

After weeks of going around in circles, I have made my damn mind up and I am going to buy a:

1/ Panasonic
2/ Plasma
3/ 42"

It seems I have the choice of three:

V20
G20
S20

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/287749/modul...

I'd never heard of the V20 until today.....?

I think the G20 is the one for me, based on spec. I will have to buy the telly unseen as I live in the sticks and my nearest 'real' TV shop is pushing two hours away.

One question:

I asked elsewhere if any tellies would take a pair of exernal speakers without the use of an amp, I see these ones have:

Analogue Audio Out RCA phono type connectors (L, R) (1 set rear)

Sorry for the simple question, but does this mean I could plug speakers in here?

Finally, who is doing the best price for a G20 at the moment?

Thanks!

Ultuous

All decent TVs should have RCA connectors... This is just the standard consumer level audio out found on most hi-fi and provides a 'line level' output, which still needs amplifying to provide any significant volume - normally through a seperate amp.... Not sure what your requirements are, but you could buy 'active' speakers with RCA inputs that have the amplification stage built into them. To be honest I'd either go the amp route if you're serious about the sound, or make do with the TV's built in speakers, as they're pretty punchy on the Panny's anyway!

I'm no expert compared to many in here, but you can't go wrong with a G20 IMHO - awesome telly! smile

The V20 is the king and the set to go for if you have the means.

The Analogue outs are line level outputs to be amplified.

You plug the speakers into the amplifier.

Right, thanks. It looks like a G or S then.

Any idea who has the best prices at the moment?

Richer Sounds have the G20 for in-store collection only at £750. Call before you travel though as RS have a reputation for advertising stock they don't actually have.

Amazon have the same deal as RS it appears, in stock ready for delivery.

I've settled on the S20 (I don't need the extra functions the other sets give), went to John Lewis website where they are selling them for £599 + free 5 year warranty........only to find they are out of stock.

mad

Richer Sounds want £700 odd for it, and other ideas where I could get one from (with a 5 year warranty) please?

Thanks, but I really want a 5 year warranty. I kept my last plasma for 5 years plus and then sold it on working. I intend to keep whatever I buy now for at least 5 years too.
