An interesting article here from the AOPA

It was a mournful day that I learned it had been ripped up in 2003 having logged many (Microsoft FS3 onwards) hours from there as a kid. Strange how one can become nostalgic for a place never visited in real life, or maybe I'm just really sad.

Great news! I have actually landed a Piper Archer there for real back in 1990. Then on take-off to the north you fly pretty low past the John Hancock tower. Bloody great! I also used to talk to the tower when taking friends around Chicago at about 1200' AGL while looking up at the Sears tower observation desk. Always a helpful tower crew who did more than they had to to ensure people got the best views while keeping safe from other aircraft.
