2001 Freelander back window

Hi. Appaprently the cable controlling this has snapped, leaving it partially down. Its going to be £220 to fix. Anyone know if there's an easy way to just lock it in the 'up' position and does it cause a problem with the door opening?

To open the door, the window drops down an inch or so, so jamming it in the up position would mean you cant open the door.

Can you get the rear panal off and have a poke about yourself?
