Can I use suede protector on my seats?

Hi,

I'm wanting to keep the seats in my EP3 Type R in decent nick. They're suede / alcantara I think. The bolsters always seem to be susceptible to wearing really badly from what I've seen.

Will using a suede protector (probably a decent one for shoes) help reduce the wear, chances of it splitting in the future and lessen bobbling? If not, what might?

Which is it, suede or Alcantara?

They may look similar but the is one every big difference, that is Alcantara is a man made material, suede is animal skin.

I'm not totally sure, I've searched a fair few forums but can't find a definite answer. I think they're suede.

Based on internet research, I'm pretty sure the red part is alcantara. Which means the black part probably is too.

The red part feels entirely different to the black part. It's the black part which I suspect is suede.

They are Alcantara IMO. Do not use a suede protector on them, Race Glaze Alcantara cleaner, or similar, is what is needed to keep on top of them.
