I need to do a couple of bits on the cerb.

1) sluggish wipers. When I turn them on the sweep a bit then stop, it I give them a gentle shove with my hand they complete the sweep and then work fine. The other option is to wait until I'm going at about 60mph then the airstream will help them along.

Do I need a new motor? If so where can I get one? How much, Can I just change the bushes? If so where from and how hard is it to get out.

Is there another option, something like an adjustment to make the sweep easier??

2) The pipe from the air con compressor on the front of the engine to the rad has a small hole. Is this a TVR part or will I get one elsewhere? If so where and any special tips when fitting it?

TIA

D.

I think the wiper motor is from a mini, its a Lucus part. Just get a late mini wiper motor from say a 1995 Mini Cooper. Not too expensive.

Before you do that though, check the earth and check that the wiper rack is well lubricated.

The wiper motor was a Lucas part but the company that made them went through a management buyout - LAP Electrical in Birmingham now make them. They don't supply direct to joe public though.

I paid to have my first motor replaced which wasn't cheap because TVR supply the motor and spindle mechanism as one unit even though they come apart. I lost my rag when the second one packed up, removed it and reconditioned it myself which cured the problem completely.

Cerb wiper motors can suffer from water ingress and this gums the axle bearing, making the motor drag and stick. Its relatively straightforward to remove the motor from the car, clean it up, grease the moving parts and put it back together.

Makes a hell of a difference.
