I am in Beijing right now...here are a few shots.
The lead shot shows a 1942 Mikado class loco that was built in Japan in 1942 and captured by China after the war. It had many years of service. The one on the right is a Mao Class. There are locos here built in the US, UK, Belgium, France, Japan, China and a few other places....

Very cool. Were there just steam engines there of did they have other types of rolling stock and locomotives in?

No..they had a fair amount of more modern stuff and some carriages also.
