Lotus F1 Car - (Sept C&SC)

Anyone got the September issue of "Classic and Sportscar"?

On page 12 is a grid full of Lotus F1 cars from 1958 onwards.

Can anyone tell me what is the car on the left in the third row (behind the gold car)?

No reason, other than because it looks good.

its a type 77.

The slightly disappointing thing is that when I Google, the 77 doesn't actually look as good as that picture led me to believe.

I'm happy to be corrected but I think it's a 72 - the first of the JPS sponsorred cars.

Not seen said picture, but I presume it must be one from Snetterton this year - there's a full breakdown of the grid here if you're interested in identifying any of the others!

Have to agree that the 77's an absolute beauty - only (arguably) bettered by the 79 IMHO!

its not a 72 - its a 77 without doubt. i checked it against the photo from c & s which can be found on google. the 72 is 2 cars away from it. they are lined up in 'type' order which how i know it is a 77 & not a 72.

the 72 is gorgeous. the 77, sadly, isnt.

There's not many things as cool as a JPS Lotus of any type.

Agreed, a 77. You can spot side pod shape and the Union flag position by looking at this photo of one.
