i'm getting clutch slip on my mildly tuned st and was thinking about upgrading to an rs one.i know this can be done but do you have to replace the dual mass flywheel as this seems rather expensive

any input would be greatly received

If a different DMF, probably yes, but otherwise no.

I do see a lot of people recently who think that the DMF has to be changed whenever the clutch is.
Not quite sure where that idea came from.

i've heard of the DMF failing on a few fords my mates went on his st170 and cost him about £700 to put right and it seems that on a couple of other forums i'm on as soon as you mention clutches people say its going to be expensive there's a lot of know it alls out there that seem to know fk all thanks for clearing that up

DMF's are considered by the manufacturers as wear and tear items along with the clutch.

A bit ridiculous really !!!

Hop over to Passionford and ask there. But likely you'd be best either fitting a standard replacement, or an uprated part intended for your application.

If it is slipping too much, for a long time, it can mess up the dmf, but apart from that, only change the broken bits,
