Well, this is turning into a perfect storm of a week for me and my beloved 530d.

The climate control (blower, a/c,) has packed up. The lights on the panel still work but nothing is happening.

Looking on other forums it looks like it's the final stage resistor which is also known as the hedgehod, due to the heatsink design on the back of it.

(Just in case you haven't been watching my threads; the pdc packed up last week and the lights have stopped auto levelling themselves - which is no big deal if they then worked normally but what they do is drop to their lowest level so you can see about 10 yards in front of (fine for manoeurving; not so good when you've just started a job in London and live at the weekends in Pembrokeshire!).

TheEnd - thank you.

Ironically I look on that for my E30 parts but unfortunately, due to me being a bit of one-track-mind type of idiot hadn't thought to think to myself - you know Savaloy, that site might actually do E39 parts too.....

You don't happen to know about pdc stuff too - it couldn't be related to the hedgehog too could it?

PDC will be entirely seperate.
PDC fault codes should be accurate and point you to the correct sensor/problem

Can I buy a fault code reader or should I get an independent to do it?

If self; any particular reader to go for on a budget? Thanks in advance.

Your options are carsoft or bmw Inpa/ ediabas.
Inpa is straight out of the back door of the BMW factories so a little more awkward to install and use but usually pretty cheap.
