Who's going to be watching it? First one in the desert Also with the added "feature" of maybe some sand on the track it might be quite interesting(But dangerous)

I'll definitely watch it. I read that they actually glued down the desert to stop the sanding blowing on the track. It should be very safe, i can't really see anything happening there. They had Jenson Button driving it on a computer simulation on speed sunday, let's hope he drives better in real life than on the computer simulation

Definitely NOT the first GP to be run next or near a desert. Casablanca in 1958 and the pre-war Tripoli GPs were all held on the verges of the Sahara. In more recent times, the Dutch GP at Zandvoort also suffered from "desert" type problems of sand being blown across the track.

I suppose it beats holding it in a swamp at easter like the English GP once was!
