Dax Rush or Subaru engined SDR V Storm?
Discussion
Hi All
First post on this forum, would appreciate any help / advice.
So the story is I sold a Noble and bought a Nissan GTR which just isn't enought fun.
I'm keeping the GTR.
I want something that's good to drive and at least 300 BHP/Tonne and I'm considering buying another Noble BUT have asked the Noble forum friends what else I should consider. See the thread entitled "B*5tard!" in the Noble forum if you'd like more detail
Two cars have come up that I've no experience of are the Rush (I've driven many Catrerhams and I love them) and the SV 3 seat Atom-a-like. I have no intention of building one as I have the mechanical ability of a jellyfish.
So:
If it were a Rush what to look out for and big Chevy engine or motorbike engine or what?
If the SDR V Storm - any thoughts at all welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I own and built this:-

Depending on where you are in the country your welcome to a ride. At Just under 400bhp/tonne it will give you an idea of what the Rush is like in raw form. Personally I think its the best looking 7 out there by a long chalk but then I suppose I am a little bias!
Its sounds like you'll be wanting a BEC from your discription as large V8's tend to lean more toward cruising and touring then trackday screamers. Mines got a Hayabusa engine and is truly mad. I have never experienced acceleration like it and I have a bike licence! Direction change can be brutal on a dry road and with heat in the tyres, in fact I have a customer who owns an R35 who has been for a ride in my car and was shocked at the performance.
Anyway drop a line if you want to go for a blat, you will need a helmet or at the very least safty glasses.
If your near Harlow then the Dax factory has demonstrators with both V8 and Bike engine so that could be an option, or join the Dax Sporting Club forum as someone will be more then happy to take you for a ride in their motor if you cant get to me, (based near Southampton).

If I am Reading this right and there is acreference in there to a £20k budget, if you do have no real mechanical knowledge at all then I would consider a very fast Caterham. £20k from a private vendor will buy you a whole lot of Superlight with a full cage and weather equipment if need be. There are independent garages all over the country who could repair / tune / maintain it for you. And buying private you should get most if not all your money back when you sell.
But if you dare to be different as I suspect you will, £20k buys you a hell of a lot of kitcar. I think if you do not know much about the scene then get yourself along to a show , something leftfield may catch your eye. Or even better get yourself down to Brands Hatch on Tuesday 5th October where hopefully loads of manufacturers will be demostrating their kitcars on track, and you can passenger ride them. At the very least it would help you decide if you could live with a bike engined car or not. And rumour has it there will be one quite nippy Dax Rush going.. :-)

I have a Dax Rush like the one above but with less carbon but a supercharger on the Hayabusa engine, MBE ECU, AiM can bus digital dash etc etc. Making about 330 bhp in a 530Kg car.
You need to bee really sure you want one because they are very different from a Noble . . . Nobles can be driven slowly, in the rain, have a heater, wipers etc and even a radio. A 7 style kit is not like that, even the ones with a screen are to a Noble what camping in a field is to a 3 star local hotel.
If you're into bikes, a 7 kit is a bit of luxury

It looks to me that the picture is taken in Whiteley?
If so, I wouldn't mind meeting up. I'm perhaps looking to build an MK Indy R or something similar.
I live in Whiteley so can meet anytime.
