Hello all

There are a couple of Mongoose full suspension MTBs ending shortly on ebay, both of which I'm watching. One size small, one medium.

I'm a 5'7" female. On the mongoose site, it states a small frame size for anyone upto 5'7", and a medium for anyone 5"8 to 6'1". The guy selling the small sze bike has owned it 2 years, and he is apparently 5'9" and it fits him great. I'd rather have a slightly smaller than too large frame, but would the small be too small do you think? I know ideally I'd go try them out, but there is no mongoose stockist nearby, and other bike manufacturers all seem to suggest a medium frame for 5'7" height.

What would you suggest?

Cheers

I suggest getting the small and then changing the stem length & seat height & fore/aft position and bar rise is appropriate to suit, It's not going to be massively off, straight out of the box.

I have a HT frame that is too big for me and whilst it is fantastically stable on descents, it is hard to keep up good momentum on tight twisty sections and penalises you on weight (not that I don't more than make up for it!).

Thanks, I was thinking along the same lines. The Teocali is no light bike by any means either, so any weight saved is a bonus I guess smile

Small sounds right to me, my girlfriend is 5'8" and rides a small (16") frame. Seen a couple of Mongoose Canaans at very good prices (online stores & ebay) recently too.

Jan 08 copy of MBR has a good test of the Teocali super.

This looks a decent buy (probably small size as the seller is looking for a 15" Kona):
