Why the disparity?
Discussion
I was paying £330 fully comp with protected NCB on a group 21 270bhp 8 year old car last year.
I recently bought a new car with 90bhp as my new runabout and only group 4 insurance but the premiums I am quoted are no less than the last car. No other changes in the meanime (no sp30's, accidents or the like).
Is this purely down to the value of ther car being greater?
In which case it should drop considerably each year (yeah right!).

Sorry I have an answer, but out of interest what car were you driving last year because insurance premimiums are one of the few reasons keeping me out of performance vehicles (assuming the car didn't weight 3 tonnes etc!).
Remapped and modified Audi TT Roadster. That's another point actually, the new car is boggo standard too!

Are you saying that the best price you've found is £330, or that the renewal quote off your insurer is £330. If it's the latter it's probably your insurer trying it on hoping you don't notice/care. value of car is only a small part of the loading on your premium
your audi would cost more to repair than your current car iff damaged, added to the fact that insurers took a lot of pain over the last 2 years so are trying to mitigate their losses
That's what I thought, so applying some logic to that - surely the more expensive car to repair is the one that should attract a higher premium?your audi would cost more to repair than your current car iff damaged, added to the fact that insurers took a lot of pain over the last 2 years so are trying to mitigate their losses
Re, the question of whether it is renewal or a different company. Renewal was higher!
I shopped around and got it cheaper but it is still nearly as much as the previous car that had 3x the power and 17 groups higher.
I guess the premium on the Audi was exceptionally brilliant!
