Can't completely close the roof

Hi

The roof mechanism on the 02 SAAB 9-3 is completely knackered and there is a gap of about an inch between the bottom of the rearmost part of the hood and the car body. The hooks for some reason won't catch on the latches.

Is it okay to hammer the bd closed so it doesn't let in until I can get it repaired?

check nothing is blocking the sensors, or the sensors have crap on them. Clean everything.

If that fails, hit it with a hammer.
