Diff Rebuild

Has anyone out there any experience of rebuilding their diff? I have a pre cat 4.3, so it think its a BTR. Ive removed it and taken the end cover off, all looks well inside, there is just play on the input giving a clunk when putting in gear from rest. If its a specialist job then can anyone recomend some one? I live in Bucks, near High Wycombe, cheers James

Howdy old bean, yep engine all together and in the car, just this little diff issue to sort then i can give the old girl some action! I take it then that you havent had a go at rebuilding your one, who did you use?

Sent my Cerb diff to alan voight...he advertises in the back of the TVRCC Sprint mag...don't have the details to hand.

Great job...cost about £450 to strip, rebuild and replace the bearing seals, etc. + postage, about £25.

Thanks, youre right, any idea what a rebuild would cost, the gears look to be in good condition.

I had my griff diff refurbed by readman racing and approx 350 pounds for rebuild

Thanks for the people who can rebuild diffs. Had another idea is there any one out there with a spare GKN diff which is in good nick(no backlash) gathering dust which they would like to sell? Cheers

I have two......

One came off my car and rumbles really well.

The other I bought c/w driveshafts and uprights, no idea of condition.

When you say one rumbles does that mean its "donald ducked"? Any idea of the mileage on the over one? Im in bucks where are you? How much do you want for them?

I have a spare Griff GKN - brought from one of the well known breakers - (not cheap mind £400), it was sold to me as good working condition from a 30K car, appears okay with no excess play or damage etc.

Iam willing to sell to recoup some funds due to recent mini gearbox issues, offer close to what I originally paid if you are interested etc (Middlesex).

The other came from e bay, a car that was being broken. You are welcome to either for £150. 00 ea
