Hi all, just wondering if anybody can help me. I have recently purchased a little Ford Fiesta 1.3 Ghia 1998 for my loving other half. Allas small she maybe but on problems a monster hmm.
First problem was the heater, super hot just never cold ? i have changed the control valve nadder, nothing, zero and still a rolling sauna, so now hoping somebody can give me a little advice on this.
Oh and before you say scraping is no option, she would expel from the home.
Then while the missus was enjoying her first delightful actual on the road experience, (mine being a nail biting one) the car then decided it no longer needed a clutch to drive hmmm scary, NOT such a funny problem me thinks. The problem is when held the clutch will slowly sink to the floor, only way to return is to physically pull with toes argh (not easy for a learner to grasp).
Anyway what i'm hoping is.... that there is an angel out there who dresses by day as a ordinary mechanic, by night he becomes internet mechanic the know it all hero, or everybody can just shout advice but as i said scraping is no longer an option, please help guys thanks

Might be the same problem as on the Ford Ka. Can't remember all the details but a little electronic box goes poop and needs replacing. Not a hard job by all accounts.

Is this so even if no fluid loss.
Thanks again for replying.

Might just need bleeding. (assuming its a hydraulic clutch)

The most common cause of the 'stuck on hot' was the heater matrix bypass valve.
There is a valve assembly with 4 water pipes and a small motor (2 pin plug).
when signaled the motor diverts the hot water away from the heater box and back to the engine. When heat is required the valve reopens to allow hot water to circulate around the matrix. Cold be a stuck valve or poor connection...or a valve that is toast

Yeah i changed the valve today 30 squid worse off, seems to still be the same so maybe i should test the pulse ?.
As for the clutch going to try to bleed that tomorrow (don't fancy throwing another 40 spondoolies at it yet) and buy a new slave cylinder but is there a way i can test the master cylinder.

Just make sure you or someone else keeps an eye on the resevoir level. Ford's can be a bd to bleed sometimes. Don't be suprised if it crunches going into reverse.

Rather than the slave, I would have said master.

A failed slave will leak fluid which you will eventually see under the car. A failed master will leak around the plunger. You could put some mole grips on the pipe from master to slave, then test. If it's the master, the problem will remain. If slave, the pedal will go hard.

Thanks again all, i will try to check master again tomorrow. I did have the same idea but attempted in the dark and used rubbish clamps.
also as i said there is no fluid under the car what so ever.
