All I would appreciate your thoughts on car lifts/ jacks to access the underside of the car and undertake jobs such as cleaning up the chassis or minor mechanical jobs etc.

I have thought about simply using jacks and axle stands, but have seen on ebay hydraulic ramp sets and lift and tilt ramps/ devices.

Any views/ thoughts?

Tuscans are low so a low jack is required or drive the car on to blocks first,
even getting on to 4 poster lifts can caurse bottoming out,
The arm on a lot of 2 post lifts have trouble going low enugh to slide under the car.
The small handy man jacks are just low enugh to slide under and using one each side followed by axle stands is a low budget way to lift the car,
If buying a workshop jack then you realy need the low slung type, reaching the front x member is reasonable but no chance of lifting the rear in 1 go, the use of a jack eather side is best ive found,
if using ramps they needs to be a small gradient.

2 poster lifts are ideal for wheels free so gearbox, and suspention can easilt be removed, however these are best with short arms, due to the small wheel base.
down side is that its verry difficult to open the doors

4 posters need low aproach ramps and restrict the jobs you can carry out, even with a cross jack

not sure whats on e bay, could you post a link?

I don't have any trouble with my 4 post lift with bottoming, had a Sag on it and thats a lot lower than a Tuscan at the front. Best bit of kit I ever bought at £1500. Other advantage , if the ceiling is high enough, you can start stacking TVRs.

Where did you get that lift from? I'm looking for something similar so I can store my motor at my work over the winter. Cheers.

Hi
Earlier this year, I purchased a set of ramps from www.restorationramps.co.uk. My Tuscan goes on no problem. My garage has been known to flood, and it's so easy just to drive on and off, jacking it up when required. The guy's very helpful, and delivered and set them up for me too. See what you think. My car is pictured on his website - the silver tuscan (or the tail end of it anyway !)
If you want any more info, just ask.
Chris

Thanks for the help so far. The restoration ramp system looks great and seems reasonably priced. Did you need the approach ramps? + nice Silver S the condition looks excellent.

Froggie, sorry I have been off line and will post the links once off my works network tomorrow.

Hi
At the time, neither of us were sure, so he brought the additional ones with him and if I needed them I'd buy them. As it happened I didn't need them. All I had was the 12 foot system, and it comes with standard lead up ramps anyway. Assuming your Tuscan has the front splitter, then once the ramps are set up properly, the splitter goes between them with two inches to spare, and then goes straight on.
First couple of time, my wife stood at the back of the garage directing me up, but since then I manage it myself. Drive to the ramps - get the car centralised - then off you go. End stops stop you coming off the end !
