What's going on here then?

Got in my car this morning and noticed the RPM, temp and fuel guages were over-reading. The RPM guage was showing an extra 800RPM at idle, the temp guage was showing normal temp when it should have been stone cold, and the fuel was showing in excess of a full tank when there's only half a tank. The speedo seems accurate.

The image was taken with the engine off, with the ignition at stage one.

Any ideas what the issue is?

Check the battery connections are not loose, my old 306 did very similar things when the -/tive was loose.

Cheers, I've just popped out to check it, and it's very securely fitted. I thought I'd turn the ignition to stage 3 before doing that, and noticed the needs blip left before swinging round to the right. After checking the battery I cycled through positions 0 to 3 about 5 or 6 times, and on each cycle the needles settled further to the left. This has now more or less reset the needles to their zero positions.

I'm a little concerned this might be indicative of a developing fault that needs further attention.

Ford dash. Dash pod fault or alternator fault I would guess.
