And now I want one.

Never really seen one close up, but having sat in it I really like it.

Looking at magazines, the MK Indy looks similar, is there any major differences between the two?

The one I sat in was very snug round the hips, but no doubt a different seat could sort that out.

Any comments ergarding differences, if any between the two?

Whilst I will have to get over the major hurdle of the my lovely wife, who knows I may join the ranks of ownership.

May I also suggest looking at an MNR which, when I looked, were by far one of the best built chassis. The welds are absolutely superb, which I felt was quite an important part of the structural integrity of the car.

Without saying too much, I wasn't impressed by the weld quality on the Mac#1... even though it did look the business.

Check the details, the MNR wasn't too different in price.

Editted to say that I'm sorry if that puts a dampener on your enthusiasm, this was a few years ago and maybe things have changed.

The Mac one will look like an MK Indy it started life as one.

The MK Indy R is good prospect, uprated chassis and suspension all round from the original and currently winning races.

I made that mistake... and now I have to hire a van to collect my chassis....

Anyway I tested/viewed a good few 7 type cars and the Mac#1 was definately the nicest/best/frendliest company.

Loving mine

The MAC has rose jointed suspension all round whereas many of the other kits do not, and what you get with these is what you're stuck with... Many kits do not have the best suspension designs, eg the MK's rear wheels do not have much negative camber, and there is no way of getting more on. Under corner loading the rears go to positive, and there is very little front adjustment. The MNR has its fair share of suspension design issues too.

Not that the MAC is ideal - quite a way from it, but if given to a motorsport garage there's a good deal of adjustment that can be dialled in. Tiny changes on a car like this translate to big driving differences

I also liked the rubberised engine cradle, custom drive/prop shafts, and the fact I could actually fit into one (6'3", long wide body)

Did you get a ride in the MAC?

Having rod ends in the suspension isn't necessarily a plus point. They will wear out pretty quickly (unless you're forking out £30-40 a joint), transmit noise and vibration and offer adjustability that you shouldn't need if the chassis is correct in the first place.

The MK and Mac will look very similar when built as, I visited Mark and Colin at Mac #1 last year, got on well with them both, had a run out in bigrich's Mac Worx and ordered my kit.

If you want to see my ZX10R turbo engined Mac Worx being built up have a look here

I own a Mac#1. I have never owned a kit car before this one. I travelled from Aberdeen to visit the Mac#1 garage and purchased a used one they had.

The guys there are superb. Very friendly and helpful. After being taken from the garage on to the local B roads I discovered what I was actually buying.......a monster. It was mental. Mark drove....I screamed.

Mark and Colin made some adjustments to the car, added some nice new additions, removed a few more and I travelled home the next day with it strapped to trailer.

It is a 7 or 8 hour drive to there premisis from my house. A long no entertaining drive.....
You will get a coffee when you arrive tho!!

The workshop is clean, cars being made, welded up etc.....all in all very good. I beleive both guys weld there....and weld good in the examples I have seen.....including mine

Promblem....the garage is miles away from me.....but hey.....thats part of it. If I need things I can get the car down there. Like the TVR goes to blackpool...the Mac#1 goes to Sheffield

LOLZ.

I'm changing for rod ends over the winter. They still aren't the be all and end all though... I only need them to be able to dial in a load more castor.

I'll put this link of my favorites and will follow you on it up to completion.

Don't ask me why but a bike engine appeals to me.

No, I sqeezed myself into the drivers seat and just thought, yep, this would be fun.

The Mac belongs to my sons friends dad, so I've told my son that this is now his best friend and make sure he invites round all the time ; )
