t help with alternator

hi ive had alternator off recently and lost notes for which wire goes where..


i have 2 small wires and a choice of 3 small terminals on the alternator..

ive tried a few combinations and not only is there no charge but no battery warning light even with wires disconnected..

any ideas?

I am no expert but it depends on the type of alternator... For mine (which has a problem I am trying to fix) I do know that the pins used are the third and second counting from the engine side out.

On mine the third is the orange wire and the second the grey wire on an LS7 loom back to the ECU

The third is the all important one I think as this tells the alternator to charge.

I am sure others will confirm or otherwise, but you will need to tell us what alternator/ engine you have. A piccy will help!

Ign is ign to start the regulator, L is the dash light and the other terminal is Ac which is for a tach or feed for ign.

Id burnt the regulator out by connecting up wrong but now only have 2 terminals..
