Mini Rebuild After Accident
Discussion
Basically i had a small crash in january in my mini but this only got sorted a few weeks ago thanks to various claims etc... going in which in the end all got turned away
not bothered going through insurance as my excess was 750 and it would make my premium mental next year so going to press on fixing it myself as in the end nobody claimed at all thanfully
Anways before the crash it was a nice example to my knowledge except for a front end where the bottom part seemed to be half fiberglass here are a couple of piccies before the crash

And then after and whilst it looks like a dented bonnet it pushed the front in and pulled the wings in as well causing my blended arches to crack away as well

So a about 3/4 weeks ago i brought myself a new front end, grill, indicators, headlamp rings and some other bits and pieces

I then started work begining which I will split into area's
The Floor:-
I thought this would be an easy thing was just going to check it over but ended up having to weld a couple of patchs in and a spot at the front before spraying it all black to neaten it up. I have also since purchased a new set of carpets to fit ontop of the sound proofing.

Spraying interior:-
The car was originally white and previous owner had it orange which i will have done again at the front to match however the interior was white and to me looked ******* so i sprayed it satin black. I am having a new headlining in black with orange stiching and then orange covers for all the pillers along with some new orange and black buckets etc... to make a really trick interior.

This side had a bit of rust so a bit of rust eater was applied and a tiny bit of filler before spraying

Boot:-
Again this was white and annoyed me so I sprayed it black and neatned up my wiring etc...

Front End Rebuild
This is currently half way through being done but I am getting there slowly but steadily lol
Started by stripping the front down

Removed my radiator and starter motor to give better access and sprayed them up as well

Started to remove front can see where grinded some filler away from arches

Noticed inner wing was rusty

More work and here we go

I have since cut away the rust from the inner wings and I am getting some plates made up so i can get them welded in this week.
I can then finish spraying the bay satin black and finish off the painting off the engine as I have some orange vht on the way to complete this then i can try and get the front put on at last
Oh and I am also tyding up the subframe at the same time and have upgraded from drums to vented 4 pots as well will get more pictures tomorrow would have more done if it had not been for my other project....

Stunning colour, what is it?
Well apparntly its ST Orange according to person doing the respray I was told it was lambo orange when I brought the car however. Is mate of dads and is going to respray front only says it will blend in perfect if not he said will just respray the whole car for no extra cost so quite pleased with that
Well todays progress started painting the block orange in VHT paint which cost me £12 for 250ml as had to get it made up as could not find it. Used to be red but it was flaking up so needed redoing. Looks more of a red on the photo but it is orange in the flesh will try and get a better picture tomorrow when I have touched it all up and painted the other parts up etc... Theme will be orange and black and silver.

Also cut away the s
t from the inner wing and getting some plates made up which will be welded in on friday i will then spray the inner wings satin black to help make the engine stand out

Dad removed headlamp ring as it was rusty on the r/h side but made a mess of the wing will get the new ring put in but getting it back to shape now is going to be a ball ache but as he caused it has said it will be his problem to solve...

I also made a start getting my new black carpet in on the inside and got my custom center console back in as well will rewire the headunit back in tomorrow and get the carpet glued down in the front as waiting on some new rubber floor grommets before I can do this.

Oh and my new door cards arrive they are black with orange stiching

Update had the plates done on the inner wings and sprayed them up black a bit

Also I sprayed up my engine a bit as well and added some chrome t bars spent 20 mins cleaning my fan blade even lol

Oh and not sure about the black bonnet or not myself may see when the front is back on to decide. This update was from ages ago btw due to university progress has slowed down a lot as I need to get my scooter finished and sold so this can be put in the garage. It is now ready for the front to be put on so dad is doing that for me I aim to have the car sorted by around christmas as this wont be driven really till spring time anway now thanks to purchase of a cheap fiesta.

Been busy at university
Came back this weekend and got the front clamped up ready for welding. Since photo was taken left hand side now fits properly. Took hours of messing around with a hammer and grinder but was pleased with the end result
Will be getting welded next weekend so its getting there now

Wow One year Later and not much progress has been made been too busy at University and at Work to do anything it now looks like this is being welded is being finished off next week as long as weather is okay then front end is sorted and can stick the rad and stuff back in and get it started for first time in over a year. Had to change the r/h wing as it was too far gone to repair around the headlamp ring. I did manage to get the left wing back into shape and was solid so no need to change r/h a panel is being replaced as well and took one of the doors off to get it re skinned should be solid again soon at least it will be ready for spring

Looked like a very nice mini! Hope you get it back up to scratch soon!
My friend has just bought a mini for £750. It's surprisingly tidy, but it's a non-runner at the moment.. We've singled it down to the carburettor, as it's getting fuel and spark, and the carb is missing the spring for the piston, and doesn't have any damper oil in it. We'll be fitting a new spring and oil and seeing if it starts.. if not, it will be a new carb!
