How to clean alloy wheels..

Morning all,

This may seem a random topic, but i recently made the random purchase of some Powdercoated OZ Alloy wheels.

Now they are a bugger to clean without taking the full wheel off, i can use the old mans jet wash to get off a lot of the muck but in the corners it can only be done with something with the surface area of a cotton bud The wheel brush i have is just as useless!

Does anyone know any good methods or products to cleaning the really hard to get area's, my friend said you can buy alloy wheel cleaning substance to remove the brake dust without harming the alloys?

Alloy cleaner is basically a strong acid.

If you do get some, be very careful, instructions will tell you to leave on for a specific amount of time, do not ignore this, once done, clean your wheels very thoroughly and fully dry, otherwise the bottom of the alloy will be left with marks on it.

I recently had my wheels powder coated and the other day the OHs. They stressed no to use the acid based cleaners.

What I advise is that you spend ages and get your wheels perfect using hot soapy water and elbow grease. Then wax them and from then on in simply clean them with soap and water weekly.

I have just brought some of that very cherry wheel cleaner. Its excellent.

Thats why I suggested a non acidic product !!! P21S is one of the only products to be recommended by German manufacturers. You can leave it on for longer without the worry of acidic cleaners...

Pretty much what i do / except use car wash / then every known again use P21 S and the brush / works a treat.
